I saw Hunger Games while eating popcorn. Its an entertaining film, where teenagers are selected from rebellious cities to compete in a contest in which they kill each other. I know it sounds weird that people would relax by watching this, but I think the film has a nice ‘get away from it all’ feel. The story takes place in the distant future in which the media and powerful rich corporations manipulate the masses. Thankfully none of that is happening these days.
Katniss Everdeen has grown up in a poor village, and in this dystopian horrible future there is no Panera bread. Things have become so bad, that bread is a big luxury. What about doughnuts? Forget about it. These people don’t even have bagels in the morning. Instead of going to Starbucks in the morning these villagers stand obediently in front of soldiers and officers of a fascist government. The officials select from among the gloomy villagers, children who will fight to death in a televised contest. Yeah, that’s how bad their life is. Katniss volunteers for the contest to save her younger sister. Katniss has spent her life killing and selling squirrels, running around in a forest, being very poor, yet none of this has had any effect on her smooth beautiful skin which glows like a light bulb. She has the skill, the attitude and the good looks. Can she survive? Grab a doughnut and find out in Hunger Games.
